Five Star BEST is now
North Houston BEST

The North Houston BEST Competition on 11/08 will take place at Moorhead Junior High School. See the Schedule for more details.

In 1999, Montgomery College (now Lone Star College - Montgomery) founded "Four-Star BEST" (which was called 5-Star BEST until spring of 2008) to support students in the North Harris/Montgomery County area. This year, Baker Hughes has answered the call to create the North Houston BEST corporate hub. However, we are doing so with full cooperation with Lone Star College and therefore, will not change venues. After our local event, we send two teams to the “Texas BEST” regional competition.

The dates have been set for the 2008 competition with Kickoff Day on 09/27, Demo Day on 11/01, and Game Day on 11/08.

We are in the process of creating a new site for North Houston BEST and once it is ready, the new link will be listed here as well as e-mailed out to all participating teams.

Any questions can be directed to our new Hub Director, Paul Lutes, at chairman@northhoustonbest.org.

BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology) is an organization dedicated to fostering science and engineering among high school and middle school students throughout the country. Each year, a competition is held where students construct a robot from a limited set of materials. The robot competes in a game against the other schools where the robots may be removing "dangerous" materials, rescuing aliens, or saving the world. Five Star Hub supports schools from the Montgomery County and North Harris County area.
